Custom Formulary
The Custom Formulary (PDF) is a list of FDA-approved prescription medications reviewed by BCBSM and BCN Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committees. Physicians and pharmacists are encouraged to refer to the Custom Formulary when selecting prescription drug therapy for eligible plan members.
Use the Custom Formulary Quick Guide (PDF) when prescribing medications for BCN members. This list contains current formulary medications within the most commonly prescribed therapeutic categories.

The Custom Formulary is updated twice a year. Interim updates will be posted here as they occur.

Savings Plus Approved Drug List
The Savings Plus Approved Drug List is a limited benefit design that encourages the use of generic drugs and provides significant cost savings to employers.
Blue EssentialsSM
Blue Essentials adds a fourth "Value Tier" to BCN's three-tier pharmacy benefit. With this fourth tier, members have no copay for commonly prescribed drugs that treat chronic diseases such as depression, hypertension, cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, congestive heart failure, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
