Pediatric Healthy Weight Toolkit
Some projections hold that today's children may be the first generation in history to have shorter lives than their parents. The Blues have developed this toolkit in light of the epidemic of childhood obesity, and as part of our unique mission to improve the health status of Michigan residents. We hope it will help you take a more active role in assisting pediatric patients to achieve a healthy weight, with the help of their parents.
The materials in the toolkit will help you:
- Identify overweight or obese patients and recommend treatment interventions
- Track patient progress over time using age-appropriate BMI charts
- Diagnose and treat patients with comorbid conditions
- Use sensitivity and empathy in communicating with patients and their families, to inspire positive behavior change
We hope you will find this toolkit a useful resource in your practice.
